Carla Hernandez was born in Newark, NJ and received her BA in Visual Art from Rutgers University. She has exhibited and performed in galleries and alternative art spaces including Mason Gross School of the Arts Galleries, Kenkeleba, ABC No Rio, Bullet Space and the Northern Manhattan Artists Alliance. Hernandez became an artist member of SOHO20 in 2009. In 2016, she became the gallery’s Programs Chair, collaborating with the Director on developing programming and special events for the Rethinking Feminism series.  She has also served on jury panels for SOHO20’s Residency Lab and +/- Project Space Open Calls. In 2017, she co-organized the exhibition, Otherwise, you don’t see me, curated by Rachel SteinbergHernandez is a co-coordinator of The Feminist Art Project’s New York chapter. She co-developed TFAP NYC’s Getting Basic series, a collaborative program with SOHO20 that aims to provide resources for emerging artists.
