Darla BjorkÕs latest SOHO20 Chelsea Gallery exhibition, Illuminations: Encaustic Paintings on Wood, celebrate the generosity of nature, the luminescence of sunrise and sunset. These gorgeous paintings, a meditation on light, shadow and space with shifting and fluid overtones, are layered with wax and oil pastels in vibrant blues, greens, pinks and gold tones, ranging in size from 7"x9" to 40"x45".
Meditation on Blue, an impressionist exploration of an exterior/interior landscape is a grouping of seven panels of differing sizes which Bjork painted in her country studio in upstate New York where she would watch the sunlight filtering through the trees and the water in the pond near her house.
