I am charmed by the wood engravings of the 18th century English artist, Thomas Bewick. His tiny people practicing their trades and his birds and animals showing snippets of woods, fields, and streams have come to define 18th century England for us. I am inspired by all the information in these miniature masterpieces. In my drawings and prints, I strive to replicate the feeling I get from Bewick: that each is a self-contained universe.
