I am interested in blurring distinctions between conceptual and painterly processes while infiltrating abstract painting from the point of view of the periphery, unsettling its territory to include other operative mechanisms. In my series “The Divine Geometry of Chocolate,” I approach abstraction by redeploying its formal histories and language to articulate one that speaks of pleasure and excess, relying on the luscious parallel between paint and chocolate.
