Farewell to Bushwick

Dear SOHO20 Community,

We would like to announce that, following this current round of exhibitions on view through June 23, 2019, SOHO20’s programming will be on temporary hiatus, and we will leave our 56 Bogart space as we contemplate directional shifts.

This is a decision that the current board of directors and artist members reached in the face of obstacles not unfamiliar to the arts nonprofit landscape. We perceive it as a vital time to examine the 46+ years of exhibitions and programs generated in the name of offering space and voice to countless female-identifying artists since 1973.

We are appreciative of the many artists, poets, curators, critics, archivists, writers, and other collaborators who have offered their work and support. A particular thanks also goes to our current and recent Directors: Janna Dyk, Rachel Vera Steinberg, and Jenn Dierdorf, whose robust efforts expanded our exhibition, residency, and programming offerings, guiding us to new experimentation and community. At this moment of transition, we are grateful for them.

Beginning July 1, 2019, until further notice SOHO20 will operate, as was its historic model, under the direction of its board and artist members. In the coming months we will announce new programming and initiatives to launch us into this next era!

In celebration of our time in Bushwick, and of the current exhibitions on view, we invite you to join us for an exhibition closing and “Farewell to Bushwick” reception on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 6-9PM. For more information, please contact us at [email protected].

Yours,

SOHO20 Artists, Inc. Board of Directors:
