ABOUT US

history | staff and board of directors | membership and applications

In 1973, SOHO20 was founded by a group of 20 women artists intent on achieving professional excellence in an industry where there was a gross lack of opportunities for women to succeed. Our mission remains to provide diverse exhibition opportunities for women artists; to present public programs including workshops, panels, lectures and screenings that generate and provide access to a productive art community; and to promote knowledge of women's artistic contributions to the general public.

In the past 10 years we have expanded our programming to include a performance art series, an artist-in-residence studio program, a project space, and a discussion series. These programs are open to artists across genders, because we believe that inclusive opportunity is a powerful tool for progressive action and dialogue to take place.

If you are a female-identifying artist interested in membership, you may view SOHO20 application information here.
