Amore is an artist, educator and writer who has spent her life between Italy and America. She studied at Boston University, University of Rome, Accademia di Belle di Carrara, and is the recipient of Massachusetts Cultural grants, a Fullbright Grant, Mellon Fellowship as well as a Citation of Merit Award presented by the Vermont Arts Council. She is the founder of the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in Vermont, an international program for sculptors.
Amore taught for many years at the Boston Museum School, and as an Artist Teacher and Visiting Critic with the Vermont College MFA and ADP programs. Major sculpture commissions are installed in the US and Japan. Among them, The Council Ring at the AnnMarieGarden, a Smithsonian Institution, Solomons Maryland; Potamac Garden for the Environmental Protection Agency, Arlington, VA and the Chelsea Creek Clipper, which included sculpture and text for the city of Boston. Recent commissions include the Centennial Collage for Dorothea’s House in Princeton, New Jersey and Gateways for the Neighborhood of Affordable Housing in East Boston. Her exhibit, Rondini di Passaggio – Birds of Passage, is on view at the Museo di Emigrazione in Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi, Avellino, Italy. The Arc of Healing Hands at Tufts Medical Center is her most recent installation.
Her multimedia Ellis Island exhibit was published by Fordham Press as An Italian American Odyssey: Through Ellis Island and Beyond. Other publications include Art by Mexican Farmworkers in Vermont, and Carving Out a Dream. Her art and literary reviews appear in International Sculpture Magazine, Art New England, the Rutland Herald/Times Argus, and VIA. Creative writing and art have been published in VIA, Italian Americana, Brownstone Poets Anthology, Biancheria, Speaking Memory, Delirious Naples, among others. Her first book of poetry, Journeys on the Wheel, was recently published by Bordighera Press. She is represented by SOHO20 Gallery.

July 16, Saturday, 2-5 PM: Boston Sculptors Gallery: BSG is celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a blockbuster show of its members’ work. The gallery is Boston’s premier showcase for sculpture. I have a brand new piece, In the Hands of Fate, with stone, photo on silk and gloves. The show is up from July 13-August 14th. There are two openings – the second being on SOWA First Friday, August 5, 5-8:30PM: Boston Sculptors Gallery, 486 Harrison Ave, Boston, 617-482-7781
August 1, Monday, 4-6PM: Boston Sculptors Gallery celebrates 30 years at historic Highfield Hall in Falmouth, MA. Glove Globe is my contribution to the gallery show. There are sculptures installed throughout the extensive grounds and indoors. The site is a delight to explore with restored gardens, walking trails and conservation land. The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center which I founded in 1987 in West Rutland, VT is celebrating its 35th anniversary. The popular Members Show is now installed in Gallery. The Annual Sculptfest of outdoor sculpture will take place on September 10th. Carving Studio and Sculpture Center, 636 Marble Street, West Rutland, VT, 802-438-2097.
The Arc of Healing Hands, was dedicated at Tufts Medical Center in late May in the Hematology Unit, South Bldg, 8th Floor, 860 Washington Street, Boston,MA. Mary Gow, of the Rutland Herald/Times Argus, wrote a wonderful article on the piece which tells the whole story. You can access it online here
