Looking Out from Beyond the Clouds, 2021
Kathy Stark is a contemporary artist who explores the use of texture and repeat imagery in her paintings. Her works have subtle coloration, texture and modulating surfaces. She uses written text, runic symbols, collage pieces, line, checkerboards and dots to create patterns employing a wide variety of materials.
Kathy grew up in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. At the time Croton was a small town nestled between the Hudson River and the Croton River. As a child she would spend numerous hours playing along the river swimming and cannoning. Music was very present in her parent’s home; her mother was a professional folk singer. Classical, Opera and jazz were household staples. She continues to find great comfort and inspiration in both music and nature.
