Lindsay Packer: spacetime
September 18 – November 9, 2015
Public Receptions:
Fri. September 18, 6-9PM
Sat. October 17, 1-5PM
SOHO20 was pleased to announce the initiation of the +/- Project Space, which is part of their new gallery in the 56 Bogart building in Bushwick, Brooklyn. For the launch of this space, SOHO20 presented the work of Brooklyn based artist, Lindsay Packer. As the premier project in the +/- Project Space, Packer’s spacetime evolved in the gallery over the course of two months, shifting periodically throughout the duration of the installation, with two public receptions on September 18 and October 17.
Using the parameters of her own process to guide the outcome, Packer’s low-tech installations turn simple objects, light refractions, and shadows into opulent visual displays. Typically sourcing found objects from the exhibition sites, she breathes life into the most overlooked of materials – never hiding, rather transforming them into arresting optical studies. Once the exhibition is over, the materials return to their original uses, leaving barely a trace of the metamorphosis.
