Marisa Williamson: FLIGHT
Thurs. April 13, 7pm
On the occasion of Marisa Williamson’s exhibition in the +/- Project Space, SUB, SOHO20 is pleased to present a one-night performance event. FLIGHT will chart the artist’s course through history in an immersive video and performance event staged in her installation. Paraphrasing Fred Moten, the African-American’s relationship with criminality has always been intimate; since as slaves, to dream or talk of freedom constituted conspiracy to steal. In FLIGHT, Sally Hemings finds an opening for escape–to steal herself away. This performance marks a juncture in Williamson’s practice. Will Hemings take flight severing ties with her home in the past? Will her she lose faith and turn back? Or get lost and perish on the journey?
This event will be live-streamed on YouTube, which can be watched HERE.
** Space is limited for this event and RSVP is required. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to info@soho20gallery.com with the subject line FLIGHT.
