Emma Schwartz is a figurative painter based in Syracuse, New York, and is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. She holds a BFA in Drawing and Illustration from Herron School of Art + Design and is currently an MFA Studio Art Candidate at Syracuse University. Schwartz utilizes her personal and collective encounters to initiate uneasy, but necessary, conversations surrounding the ways we manifest, hunt, and experience desire and community. She depicts intimate imagery that helps us position our own experiences in conversation with people who have similar or different paths. Storage Space Gallery in Indianapolis, IN, and the Biblio Gallery in Syracuse, NY, have had solo exhibitions of her work. She has appeared in group exhibitions at the Indianapolis Art Center, Garfield Park Arts Center, the Harrison Center, and Lost Dog Gallery in Indianapolis; Governors Island, Collect Bean, and High Line Nine Gallery with Visionary Projects in NYC; Black Brick Project and Harsh Collective in Brooklyn, NY; The Gear Factory Gallery in Syracuse, NY, The Yards Collective in Rochester, NY, and Soft Times Gallery in San Francisco, CA.
