The members of Soho20 Gallery are moved by the willingness of the Iranian artists to share their art and their statements. We are proud to provide both a platform and an opportunity to proclaim our solidarity with these artists, and the women in Iran struggling for their rights to be seen and heard with respect.
While all Soho20 gallery members were moved by the artists of Iranian Voices : Women in Solidarity, six artists, Diane Churchill, Anne Elliott, Susan Hockaday, Lisa Fischetti, and Eleonora Tammes, were inspired to create art in response. From Churchill's abstract representation of martyrdom and hope, to Fischetti's meditation on the power of a thread, to Hockaday's work on climate change, to Elliott's tender, but faceless drawing of the everywomen, to Tammes menacing, yet beautiful backdrop contrasting present and past Persian culture, and finally, to Kathy Stark's inspirational quotes about women thoughout modern history. All are deeply personal tributes to the Iranian women in this show and in their country..
